I almost didn't go to Fairbury for the Jayhusker show.because it was so hot, but I had a new Nikon body I was dying to try. I was glad I went. In spite of temps near 100 and a strong wind, the track never got very dusty.
There was a fair number of cars in all classes except for just 5 trucks.Early on, the topless racers (sounds more interesting that way :) ) provided a little excitement when David hit the wall and everybody else waited til they were in my lap to slow down! I was looking into the sun...and dust, but several shots were salvageable.
Here's Ron trying a shortcut and Vernon doing a pirouette.
The "survivors" still managed to put on a good show.
Once again, a small truck field still managed to provide a lot of excitement as Ryan & Randy ran door to door for much of the race before Ryan pulled off the win.
In the 600 feature, Todd Odle started outside pole and took off like a rocket. There was a lot of good racing behind him.......
..., but Todd hit a near perfect setup (with help from Echoe's shock) and cruised to a great win!
All in all, it was definitely worth the drive up. Thanks to Keith & Scott and all the crew at Fairbury. You guys did a great job...again.
Note to the mod lite/dwarf gang. I'm having problems with the external hard drive where that night's pics are stored. When I get it resolve, I'll either edit this or upload some to my photo site.
