8th Grade Football v Clay Center 10-14-2010

With the Panthers already up by a touchdown, Shea returns a punt early in the game.

The pressure Braden put on the QB got this play off to a good start for the Panthers.

The play got even better when Drake outjumped the intended receiver for a pick....

....tucked the ball away....

....and headed for the end zone.

After making this guy miss, Drake was in for 6.

The Bengals QB tries a keeper, but he has a bunch of Panthers in pursuit.

Zach and Nick run him down after a short gain.

Shea had already shaken off several tackles and gained about 20 yards by the time these two defenders brought him down.

A couple of plays later, Shea blasted through the middle into open ground.

After that, it was a parade to the goal line.

On the first play of their next possession, Clay Center tried passing into Jace's territory.

Big mistake.

A pick for 6!

After a blocked punt, it was Gilberth's turn to get in on the action.

A couple of tough carries set the Panthers up just outside the red zone and....

....Zach made it pay off by taking it up the middle....

....and taking it in for another TD.

With the middle proving almost impossible to penetrate, the Bengals had to try the outside again.

The Panthers' speed paid off here....

...and the QB was stopped again.

This play pretty well sums up this game. After breaking into the clear, Nick has a defender hanging on, but it doesn't slow him down much.

The first guy tries to hold on until help can arrive.

Nick
Nick shook of the first defender, but not before another one could latch on to him. You can see he's still marching toward pay dirt!

FINALLY, enough Bengals pile on to bring Nick down, but only after another huge gain.

Things didn't get any better in the 2nd half as Drake returned the kickoff for a score.

The big gains kept coming as Zach picks up nice yardage here.

Jace got a turn carrying the ball too.

The ball was stripped here, but the Panthers recovered the ball.

I think this is Chase getting a carry, but I can't tell for sure.

Gilberth added another score late to make the score even more lopsided. 48-0

I don't know how much watching the 7 graders fired up the 8th grade, but they came out loaded for bear!
By the time this game started, the sun was going down, so the pics aren't as good as the 7th grade game.

7th Grade FB v Clay Center 10-14-2010

This guy looks like he's running for his life, and from the look on Cooper's face, he might be right.

Stopped cold again.

Come back here ball!

The Panthers recover the fumble.

Off to the races...

.....cut past this guy.......

....and this guy, and in for 6.

Another group effort.

A tackle for a loss.

Passing has to work better than running after that, right?

Not with Cooper on the other end of the pass.

He made it look easy.

I was impressed with the way Tyler kept taking these hits and bouncing right back.

Ethan struggling for a couple more yards.

Everybody got in on tackling this guy at some point or another.

That's Cameron isn't it?

So close!

But on the next play, Manny & company swing wide left....

...and after making this guy miss, it was in for the TD

The following kickoff wasn't returned very far.

Manny returns the next punt

Here, he racks up a few more yards.

Cameron broke this tackle & picked up another 3 yards. This was one of the few times Clay Center kept the Panthers out of the end zone.

The next time they had the ball, Manny helped move into scoring position (which is actually ANYWHERE on the field with these guys!)

I think he just liked posing for me. He ran sweeps my way a LOT...for big gains....

....and showing off some nice moves....

...and plenty of speed. This was for another TD.

Cooper tries to get in for a 2 point conversion.

Another smothering tackle. The guys were impressive on both sides of the ball tonight.

After what looked like a stuffed run up the middle, Trevor blasted through and scored another long touchdown run!

The guys even did a good job of covering receivers & breaking up passes.

Dustin's looking at Tyler like a bear eying its prey.

Even if he'd have missed, the runner wasn't going far.

The Bengals completed this pass, but didn't gain very much. As soon as he caught this, there were 4 Panthers swarming on him.

This time they tried a quick pass out to Tyler.

On this play, I just saw a commotion on a pass and the next thing I knew,  Dustin had the ball heading the other way

At this point, it looked like the Panthers just might win.
