WOO Duel in Dodge Friday 7-1-2011

105 degree temps and strong winds are usually a sure recipe for terrible race conditions, so it didn't look good going into Friday's Duel in Dodge. Tommie Estes Jr and his crew managed a minor miracle and kept the track in really good shape considering the conditions even if they had to rework the track twice during the show.
The racing was really good with the guys running pretty much wherever they wanted all night instead of the usual one lane train that often happens on nights like this.
The feature appeared to belong to Sammy Swindell (who looks as fast as ever recently) until Kerry Madsen and Jason Martin got together in turn 4 with about 4 laps to go. Martin hit the wall a ton and took a nasty looking ride, but climbed right out of the car and immediately went looking for Madsen......probably to discuss the nasty weather.

Jeff Stasa & Sammy Swindell.

Donny Schatz & Craig Dollansky.
Number 11 & number 11. Er, Steve Kinser & Patrick Stasa.

Trying to slide up past Jason Martin, Kerry Madsen (92) runs Martin into the wall in turn #4 with about four laps to go.

Martin pivots on his front tires as Madsen continues.

His front end impacts the wall again........

......sending him flying along with parts and dust.
The car flips into the front stretch........
......right into the path of oncoming cars. Note the red has just come on here.

Cody Darrah was just able to avoid Martin.

On the restart, they went 3 wide.......

.....and even four wide. So much for a one lane track.

Sammy ALMOST regained the lead coming to take the white flag, but came up just short.

Dollansky & crew celebrate after Friday's feature.

Sammy and Craig pop the corks of their champagne.
On the restart, Craig Dollansky managed to get by Swindell in turn 4. A lap later, Swindell almost regained the lead, but Dollansky held him off for the win.
