URSS Sprints @ Belleville Thursday 8-4-2011

A three day break was enough to get caught up, almost. Good thing too, because Midget Nationals week is always a long one.
I was hoping for a few more cars, but for this year 26 isn't too bad. As it turned out, it was plenty to put on a good show. One thing about these cars, they don't seem as prone to to the frequent problems that usually plague every other class that runs here.
I hadn't seen Connor Atkinson for a couple of years & it was good to see her run again. It was also nice to meet Haley Arnold who did a fantastic job. Leading the B, she had problems & pulled off late. That put her at the back for the feature and she then made her way up to a 13th place finish! She told me afterwards she loves the place and wants to come back in a 360 or 410.
Congrats to Luke Cranston on winning the feature. His prior experience here couldn't have hurt.
The drivers really seem to like it here and they are gaining fans every time they show up at Belleville. Hopefully, they'll become a regular show at the High Banks as they're one of the better shows to run here.

Adam Trimble pulled all the way from Pueblo.

My old buddy Howard Van Dyke

Haley Arnold's wing failed in hot laps and she borrowed one from Ty Williams for the rest of the night.

At speed it looked like it might come completely apart.

Kasey Beckham (B3) and Richie Dewell

Josh Fairbank

CJ Johnson may have tempted fate by running Belleville an extra night.

Ray Seeman

Connor Atkinson

Reed Bernbeck (1) & Zach Blurton

This used to be such a nice neighborhood, but a pretty shady crowd has moved in.
I THOUGHT they looked familiar!
Another character. Jon Backlund was on hand in his Asslinger powered toy.

Cody Keiswetter (38) & John Webster.

Kirby Hagans (4) and CJ Johnson

This was almost a big one.

Ty Williams got up against the guard rail and did a nice job not to come down into the pack running beneath him.

Ray Seeman & Brian Herbert
Haley Arnold was running off with the B until she had motor problems.

Hagans & Beckham

Feature time.

The start was exciting.....

......and they were still doing it on the next lap. That's Patrick Bourke in the 27 and Judd Sheaffer in the 56.

Sheaffer & Dewell duel.

These two seemed to run together most of the night.

Connor & Haley

Haley going by Cody Caldwell.

Keefe Hemel (11) & Keiswetter.
Late in the race they could still run wherever they wanted.

Another casualty of the speed at Belleville, Bob Schaeffer lost a wing too.

Haley getting around Lance Davis for 13th. Quite a drive.

Luke Cranston, family, & crew after the race.
